Job Description:

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for the engineering, configuration, installation, maintenance, and upgrade of systems consisting of server and storage platforms to also include all necessary applications within the supported environment. The overall function of this position is to ensure system hardware and software is compatible and capable of required performance metrics. This position provides support related to user management and provisioning platforms and processes. The environment is heavily concentration on virtualization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs configuration, debugging and support for multiple infrastructure platforms on moderately complex projects.
  • Performs root cause analysis for service interruption recovery; create preventative measures.
  • Develop logical and physical designs of new environments, and provide maintenance and issue resolution as needed.
  • Works with other technical staff members, sharing information and collaborating on all applicable projects and/or escalated issues and resolution.
  • Performs complex engineering, implementation, and maintenance tasks on systems.
  • Responsible for the on-going assessment and upgrade of systems.
  • Collects and analyzes system statistics and provide recommendations as needed.
  • Researches, evaluates, and recommends hardware and software.
  • Serves as troubleshooter on complex system problems.
  • Develops relationships with vendors and investigates sources of equipment and services.
  • Reviews contracts and maintains close contact with existing vendors of equipment and services.
  • May evaluate vendor cost and quality of equipment and services.
  • Coordinates with vendors on the installation of hardware and software and training where applicable.
  • Stay abreast of the latest technology trends
  • Must participate in on-call service schedule and respond to customer technical problems as required.
  • May travel to customer sites to provide additional support and troubleshooting.

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills and abilities)

  • Bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science, computer engineering or equivalent job experience.
  • Previous experience performing network engineering or systems administration role in a large enterprise environment
  • Must possess a minimum of 4 years of experience in the following subject areas: Microsoft Windows Active Directory 2000/2003/2008, Microsoft Terminal Services 2000/2003/2008, Server Hardware and Architecture to include RAID sets, Disk Arrays, Memory, Processor configurations.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in at least 1 of the following subject areas: Citrix XenServer/XenApp/NetScaler, Exchange 2000/2003/2007/2010, VMWare ESX, Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008/2012, Backup topologies to include Symantec Backup Exec, EMC Avamar, and EMC DataDomain, SAN topology to include EMC, NexSan, and Brocadeswitch fabric.
  • Previous experience managing server hardware and platforms, troubleshooting hardware and software issues as needed.
  • Strong knowledge working knowledge of operating systems and platforms including networks, programming techniques, and database technologies.
  • Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7
  • Advanced experience in Windows Server 2000/2003/2008 R1/R2 system administration including system maintenance, Workstation support, Internet connectivity, security, and back-up procedures.
  • Skilled at analysing complex functions, procedures, and problems to find creative, logical, solutions.
  • Experience in system maintenance, Workstation support, Internet connectivity, and security services.
  • Exceptional customer service skills with expertise in troubleshooting, diagnosing and solving complex computer related problems
  • Self-directed, able to prioritize and effectively handle multiple projects at a time under high-pressure and challenging situations.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to work quickly and accurately in a shared community environment.

Technical Skills/Certifications

  • Must possess current certifications in the following subject areas:
    A+, Net+, Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP)
  • Must possess current certifications in one (1) the following subject areas:
    Citrix CCA for Virtualization, Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) or Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA to include concentration in Windows Server, SQL Server, Exchange Server or SharePoint, VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
